Tail Wheel Differences Training
The Tail wheel endorsement can be added to a LAPL or PPL
Tail wheel aircraft can be great fun to fly but they offer significant differences to ground handling when compared with tricycle gear aircraft. Pilots must undergo differences training to learn how to handle them as they are much less forgiving of error and poor technique. We offer the training in our DHC-1 Chipmunk, a great tail dragger with good handling characteristics which will set you up for success in many other types. We mandate a minimum of 5 hours training.
Aerobatics Rating
The Aerobatic Rating can be added to a LAPL or PPL
The aerobatic rating is a Flight Crew Licence (FCL) rating which is required to conduct aerobatics in any certified aircraft. The training covers principles of flight, TEM, and in-flight maneuvers including looping, rolling, spinning and Stall turns. We conduct all aerobatic flights in our DHC-1 Chipmunk. The course consists of theory instruction and a minimum of 5 hours of aerobatic flight. This usually results in approx 8 hours of flight time. There is no skills test but your instructor will assess your competence through a series of linked aerobatics at the end of your training before you gain a course completion certificate.
